Houston native Autumn Beckman is a graduate of the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts where she studied photography and painting, following which she studied animation at the prestigious School of Visual Arts in New York City. She holds Bachelors degrees in painting and psychology from the University of Houston and a Masters degree in psychology from The Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Currently she is working on her PhD there in social-personality psychology, looking at the ways women artists use their art to rebuild following Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Hurricane Ike in Galveston, TX. Autumn has also earned a graduate level certificate in film studies.

She offers portrait, wedding, and event photography through her business Autumn Beckman Photography and pet portraits (drawings, paintings, and photography) through her business Autumn's Dogs.

Autumn has a hilarious talking African gray parrot, a cuddly miniature dachshund, and a German shepherd who thinks she's a dachshund.
