I have created artwork for professional purposes in several capacities. My first employment experience (while still in high school) was with M.M.'s Designs, a local company that produced children's room decor and stationary. One project I completed was stationary (see below) bordered with an alphabet made of animals, each animal's name beginning with that letter of the alphabet.
From my sophomore to senior years in high school I volunteered in the bird department of the Houston Zoological Gardens where I had the opportunity to create several pieces for various purposes. Three of my pen and ink bird drawings (one pictured below) were selected for publication in the Animal Keepers' Forum, the journal of the American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK); two for the cover and one as an illustration accompanying an article. The illustration at the top of this page is a design used in 2000 by the annual Bowling for Rhinos fundraiser of AAZK and another design (see below) was to be used as the cover of the Attwater's Prairie Chicken Recovery Team Husbandry Manual, written by staff of the bird department, had it been printed. The photographs in this image are from a series of daily photos that I shot of one particular bird as it grew from day to day.
In the summer of 1998 I interned at ADV Films, a Japanese animation distributor based in Houston, TX, where I enhanced images for VHS covers, edited film subtitles, and even contributed did voice-overs in the backgrounds of a few films.
From 2000 to 2001 I worked as an executive assistant for the Vice President of Walker-Lee Trading Co., Inc. in Houston; a manufacturer of high-quality silk trees and plants. While there I created their catalog from scratch including the photography, layout, and design. Sample pages are pictured below.
In 2009 I created two businesses, Autumn's Dogs and Autumn's Weddings, through which I create custom pet portraits (paintings and photographs) and wedding photography, respectfully.
I have always accepted select private commissions (some of which are pictured below) and continue to do so. One of my latest projects was to photograph Rock Romano's Red Shack Recording Studio in Houston, TX. The images will be used for the business website.
